"Charana Sparsha" |
|
"Bhakti" lies in the lotus feet of Shri Krishna therefore
the devotees touch His feet everyday to express their devotion.
|
|
A for
"Ashtakshara Mantra" |
|
This is the first "Mantra" that is given
to a person seeking entry into Pushtimarga. After getting this "mantra"
the devotee comes under the protection of "Shri Krishna" and Shri Krishna
alone.
|
|
B for
" Brahma -Sambandh" |
|
This mantra is given to a devotee who
is being consecrated as a "das" to "Shri Krishna". In this the devotee
pledges to give away to "Shri Krishna" everything that he has authority
over including his mind, body, limbs, his life, wealth, property, his
belongings , all his relations, virtually every single thing in the
name of "Brahma"{i.e. Shri Krishna) and thus forms a special bond (Sambandh)
with Him

D for "Das- bhavana"
|
|
The feeling of belongingness to "Shri Krishna" or
treating him as one's master is very important in this marga.
|
|
E for
Eighty four Vaishnavas (Disciples) of Shri Mahaprabhuji |
|
The episodes of these 84 disciples are the heart
of "Pushti bhakti marga". The lives of these 84 disciples teach us the
principles that are followed here.
|
|
X for 'Xclusive -
|
|
The devotees of Pushtimarga are the exclusive ones
. Exclusive because they are meant solely for the purpose of serving
the Lord ("Tasmat-jivah-pushtimarge-bhinna-eva-na-samshayah").

|
W for Wed as in

|
Acceptance of a devotee in Pushtimarga, is like and
outworldly wedding with the Lord, for He is available only to those
whom he weds(chooses) ("Yamaiva-esha-vrunute-tena-labhya").
|
|
V for Vivek
|
|
To know that the Lord will act according to his
own will , is the true knowledge or Vivek in this marga. Nothing is
possible without His consent and He knows what is best for whom.
|
|
U for Utsav or festival
|
|
Everyday in the life of a devotee is a day of celebration
or Utsav because each day is graced by the Lord for his "seva".
|
|
T for Tilak
|
|
The "Kumkum Tilak" on the forehead of the devotee
signifies the lotus-feet of the Lord, which is worn with pride like
an ornament. Tilak alongwith Kanthi(Tulsi-beads woven together in a
thread) are the essential symbols for a Vaishnav.
|
|
S for "Samarpan" or complete
surrender
|
|
The devotee offers his total surrender to Shri
-Krishna, without any conditions attached. The devotee has full faith in Him. |
|
R for
"Raag-Bhog-Shringara" |
|
A devotee in this marga in his total surrender to
the Lord, offers his all-round service complete with "Raag" i.e. music,
"Bhog" i.e. food and "Shringar" i.e. ornamental decorations
|
|
Q for Quest
|
|
A Pushtimargiya devotee is always in Quest for His
grace(Kripa) to achieve goals in this Marga for without His "Kripa"
nothing can be achieved.
|
|
P for "Prem Lakshana Bhakti"
|
|
Apart from the Nine-fold devotion the tenth kind
is also attached to the Pushti Bhakti viz. "Prem Lakshana Bhakti" which
means devotion that results out of supreme love which is selfless one
towards Shri Krishna and which surpasses all kinds of love.

O for Omnipotent
|
|
Shri Krishna is the all-pervading, Omnipotent, ultimate
reality. He is the"Purna Purushottam". He is the material and efficient
cause of the universe; it is created by Him , for Him and from Him.
|
|
N for Navdha Bhakti or the
nine fold devotion
|
|
The devotee initiates nine-fold devotion to Shri
Krishna , he listens to His praises, sings in His praise, remembers
His blissful leelas,falls prostrate to His lotus feet, bows in salutation,
worships Him, serves Him as a servant, treats Him as a friend and offers
himself unconditionally to Him.
|
|
M for Manasi Seva -
|
|
When the devotee reaches the highest point of devotion,
he indulges in "Manasi Seva". He becomes completely engrossed mentally
and psychologically in the service of the Lord. The worldly senses stop
functioning for Him and the devotee becomes unaware of the outside world.
|
|
L for Leela or Sport -
|
|
The universe is created for the sport of the Lord(Para
Brahma). The world is the venue for his sport, we are all like toys
in his hand.
|
|
K for Keertan or -
singing in praise of the Lord |
|
This is one of the kinds in the nine-fold way of
devotion(NavdhaBhakti).
The others being 'Shravan ''Smaran'; 'PadSevan'; 'Archana';'Vandan';'Dasya' ;'Sakhya';'Atma-Nivedan'. |

J for "Jagadgure
Mahaprabhu "Shri Vallabhacharya" |
|
The founder of the Pushtimarga sect. He was bestowed
the title of "Jagadguru" or the universal preceptor unanimously after
he won over all the debating Acharyas in the court of King Krishnadevaraya
|
|
I for
"Indra Maan Bhang Leela" |
|
The famous episode of Shri Krishna's Vraj Leela,
when he lifted "shri Govardhan"hill to save all the residents of Vraj
from the ire of "Indra" the God of rains. This is why He is named "GovardhanNath".

H for "Hariraiji" |
|
Also known as "Harirai Mahaprabhu" whose
famous work "41 Shiksha Patra" are treated as the guidelines for understanding of "Pushti marga" |

G for Gopijan |
|
The cowherd ladies of Vraj or the "Gopijans" as
they are popularly known, are treated as the ideal devotees of Shri
Krishna, as their love for Him was a selfless one without any physical
or materialistic desires
|
|
F for Fruit or the reward |
|
In pushti marga, Bhakti (devotion) in itself is treated
as end while it is a means too.The devotee seeks bhakti in lieu of bhakti
and nothing else, not even "mukti" or "moksha" (spiritual liberation).

Z for Zeal
|
|
The eagerness to learn more and more about Pushti
Bhakti, alone helps you to enjoy its fruits

Y for Yamunaji
|
|
Shri Yamunaji is not just a holy river, she is a
mediator between a devotee and the Lord. We need her blessings at each
and every step in order to gain rewards of our devotion for she is very
dear to the Lord.
